Mirror, Mirror

The original color of this mirror was a bright yellow.  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® was layered and blended starting with French Linen in a solid first coat. Paris Grey, Louis Blue and Duck Egg Blue were added for depth and texture alone and mixed with Old White. Clear and Dark Wax. Gilding wax provided gold highlights.

Mirrors are some of my favorite pieces to paint. For more mirror inspiration see my posts  Another Sunburst Mirror, Mirror Image, and DIY Sunburst Mirror

  1. Beautiful...did you blend the colors while they were still wet? Or did you layer them after each coat dried?

    1. Hi Karen,
Not really and yes. I kept adding paint until I got a look I was happy with. Sometimes I will look at a piece after it is finished and think, "it needs a little more blue", or more" highlights." Even after I have waxed I might add a little more paint. Of course that only works when it is a piece I have in my home..:). My point is I often don't get it right on the first try. Luckily Chalk Paint is so user friendly and forgiving. If you look closely you can probably see where I dabbed on the blue and it was definitely after the fact. Don't be afraid to experiment and try new things , you can always fix it later..Write me anytime, I love questions. I will always get back to you. Thanks,
      Leslie
